They do the classic dim sum well and it's nothing fancy. The carrot cake had a good sear and had lots of "lap cheong"(chinese sausage).
The chicken feet was tasty and soft and came right off the bone.
I liked the glutinous rice which had a good proportion of chicken, chinese sausage and salted egg yolk to the rice.
The mango shrimp rolls - ooh they just melt in your mouth - I could eat a whole bunch of these.
I can't ever pass up xiao long bao - so we ordered some, these were quire large and had a lot of soup. The skin was quite thin too. Yummy!
I didn't try the shark bone soup but it looked thick and gelatinous. I hear it is good for your complexion.
I had the shark fin seafood dumpling which is quite large and could almost be a meal in itself - it had all the goodies, shrimp, scallop, crab meat, sharks fin etc. We had to wait awhile for it but it was worth the wait as it felt like it was freshly made. What a good way to end the meal.
Though Padang Palace is situated in the Singapore Recreation Club, it is open to the public. The decor is a bit worn but the food is still good.
