Westview Oriental Restaurant

Dim Sum - perfect for a family lunch on Sunday.  Lots of variety to choose from and please everyone's palates.

We had the usual shrimp (Har Kau) and pork dumplings (Siu Mai) and a token vegetable dish which was very tasty because it was fried with minced meat.
Spicy Green Beans with Minced Meat
The nieces love the vegetarian and shrimp spring rolls - one likes the vegetarian, one likes the shrimp hence we always order 2 types.
Shrimp Spring Roll
We also had the sesame shrimp toast which is essentially minced prawn on white bread sprinkled with sesame seed then deep fried. Nice and crunchy.  I was so happy to see this on the menu as it reminds me of my childhood - not many places serve this up anymore.

These wontons with spicy sauce are very good.  The spicy sauce is a bit sweet, a bit sour and goes well not just with the dumplings but other things too.  We always save the sauce to dip with other dim sum.
Dumpling with Spicy Sauce
I love these taro balls,  it is crispy and crunchy on the outside while the inside has meat filling surrounded by the soft and rich taro.

Can't go wrong with deep fried chicken wings.

The whole family likes beef and this beef brisket is tender and the sauce goes well with the rice rolls.

I like this in winter as the chicken broth warms me up, the chicken is very tender and the noodles well,  I can't resist chinese noodles.
Chicken Noodle Soup
Another standard at dim sum is the century egg porridge with chinese donut (you tiao)

Everything we ordered was pretty decent, slightly different from what I'm used to in Singapore.   My favourites are the dumplings with spicy sauce, taro balls, the chicken noodle and the shrimp toast.

Make a reservation especially if you're a large group as they have more small tables then the large chinese tables of 10.  The prices have gone up somewhat but it is the only place on the North shore serving up Dim Sum.
