East Coast Lagoon Food Village - Singapore

East Coast Park is a good place to get some exercise be it jogging, roller blading, cycling or just walking.    Most of the time there is a fresh sea breeze too.

To cap off all that hard work, there is a food centre by the lagoon that serves up good food.  During Chinese New Year though, only a few stalls were open but we managed to get sambal stingray ( I think it is very similar to skate)  This fleshy fish is easy to eat as the meat slides right off the bones.  It is often served BBQ on a banana leaf ( I believe this increases its flavour) with sambal chilli sauce and lime.  If you can't stand spicy food, wash it down with fresh coconut juice.

We also managed to get some friend Hokkien Mee which is fried yellow noodles with vermicelli tossed with prawn, squid and fish cake.   It is usually served with lime and chilli sambal sauce.  The best ones are fried with pork lard in a very very hot wok that gives that noodles a very distinctive taste that the cantonese call "wok hei" - the smell of the wok.  Eat up all that crispy pork fat goodness.

Other stalls of note:  Beef Noodle, Char Siew Noodle, Chicken Wings, Duck Rice ( I will cover later this year in a separate post)
